AFFORDABLE GOLF COURSE LIVING Homes for sale in Hedingham

This unique neighborhood located on the northeast side of Raleigh is known for being Raleigh’s first affordable golf course community.  I know this neighborhood very well as I lived in there with my family for 12 years when we moved to Raleigh in 1993.  Homes for sale in Hedingham offer single family homes starting in the $150’s going up to low $300’s, many with golf course or lake views.  It also has town homes that are unique in that all are two unit buildings, each with a single common wall and outside walls.  These start in the low 90’s with no garage and go up to the $170’s with a 2 car garage.   Hedingham is within a 15 minute drive of downtown Raleigh and is convenient to both I-440 & I-540.  There is plenty of close by shopping and dining.  The community is also 3 miles from of  main campus for the largest healthcare & hospital system in the area, Wake Med . A feature is a separate pediatric emergency care unit .

Residents of Hedingham can  literally remain at home and have a “staycation” .  The community features Hedingham athleticone of the most extensive amenity packages in the Triangle area. Residents are offered a choice of two pools, both with life guards.  The Willow Oak pool is more family orientated and where the community swim team competes while the Grand Traverse pool offers a more adult atmosphere.  Residents can get a great workout at the full onsite athletic center,  complete with gym, basketball, aerobic & yoga classes, free weights and exercise Hedingham poolequipment.  You’ll find two lighted tennis courts, a members club house available for rent to accommodate those larger parties your home won’t  and a private lake to fish in. Homes for sale in Hedingham border the Neuse River and  for those that like to bike, jog, run, roller blade, there is  direct access to the East Coast Greenway that will some day link Maine to Florida.  The main spine of this paved greenway follows the river and connects currently to some 200 miles of offshoot trails that take you in many different directions. Hedingham  residents also enjoy community activities and clubs, including an active group called the Hi-Miler Club for those 55 and older.

Hedingham Golf & Athletic residents have the advantage of golfing privileges at Hedingham Golf Club through the payment of their Homeowner’s dues. This privilege is available Monday – Sunday after 3 PM (1 PM during the winter months due to daylight savings). If you decide to utilize this privilege, you will be only responsible for the cart fees and the balls you lose. The 18-hole course at the Hedingham Golf & Athletic Club facility features 6,529 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. The course rating is 71.6 and it has a slope rating of 124 on Bermuda grass. Designed by David Postlewaite, the Hedingham golf course opened in 1991. The golf course also includes a driving range, snack shop and putting green.  During the summer months, it’s not unusual for there to be entertainment and get togethers on the back porch of the club house.

Homes for sale in Hedingham have homeowners dues among the lowest in the Triangle and include all the amenities above.  Owners of aDSCN0003 single family home pay only $45.00/month while town home owners pay $108.25/month, which also includes exterior yard and building maintenance.  Just to give you an idea how little these dues have increased over the years, when I moved in back in 1993, the HOA fees were $33.00 for single family and $99.00 for townhomes.  At that time there was only one pool and no athletic center.
